Kerala Lottery Real or Fake: How to Verify a Result and a Ticket

The Kerala State Lottery is a real government lottery. The Government of Kerala runs it. Its results and tickets are easy to verify against official sources. Fake results, fake tickets and fake “you won” messages use its name, and each one fails the same checks.

Is the Kerala lottery real?

Yes. The Kerala lottery is a government lottery, run by the Department of State Lotteries since 1 September 1967. It was the first state lottery department in India. Its first draw took place on 26 January 1968.

The Lotteries (Regulation) Act, 1998 sets the conditions every state lottery follows. Section 4 lists them, and 4 of them make a Kerala ticket traceable.

  • Printing: the State prints every ticket with its imprint and logo, so authenticity is ensured.
  • Draws: the State itself conducts every draw, within the State.
  • Money: ticket proceeds go into the public account of the State.
  • Numbers: no prize is offered on a pre-announced number or a single digit.

The Karunya Benevolent Fund was set up with lottery revenue and is now run by the State Health Agency. Every result is published the same day and in the Kerala Government Gazette.

How do you verify a Kerala lottery result?

You verify a result by matching it with the official result sheet or the LOTIS result page. Both come from the State Lotteries Department. A result from any other source counts only after it matches them.

  1. Wait for the draw at 3:00 PM at Gorky Bhavan, near Bakery Junction, Thiruvananthapuram.
  2. Open the official sheet at result.keralalotteries.com, linked from statelottery.kerala.gov.in.
  3. Check the draw code and date at the top of the sheet.
  4. Match your full ticket number for the top prizes, and the last 4 digits for the lower prizes.
  5. Confirm a large prize with the Kerala Government Gazette, as the sheet itself advises.

Which result sources are official?

4 sources come directly from the department.

Source What it shows When
Live stream, youtube.com/@kslott/streams The draw itself, at Gorky Bhavan From 3:00 PM
Official result sheet, result.keralalotteries.com Every winning number, series and place of sale Weekly sheets came out between 4:33 PM and 4:46 PM, 24 September to 3 October 2026
LOTIS result page, lotteryagent.kerala.gov.in The list of draws with downloadable results After the sheet
Kerala Government Gazette The published result After the draw

The LOTIS result page lists every recent draw with its code and date.

Why do some websites show wrong numbers?

Unofficial sites often type numbers from the live stream before the sheet appears. Typing errors follow. On 3 October 2026, 2 unofficial sites listed 6027 as a Karunya KR-770 7th prize number. The official sheet lists 3027. The holder of 3027 won ₹500, and the holder of 6027 won nothing.

This site publishes winning numbers only from the official sheet. It is not a government site. The sheet and LOTIS remain the final word.

How do you verify a Kerala lottery ticket?

You verify a ticket by scanning its QR code with the department’s official app. The app is listed on Google Play as Kerala Lottery Official, formerly Bhagya Keralam. A genuine ticket returns its lottery, draw and number from the department’s system.

  1. Install the app published by “The Department of State Lotteries” on Google Play.
  2. Scan the QR code printed on the ticket.
  3. Match the details on screen with the details printed on the ticket.
  4. Check the number against the official result after the draw.

According to NIC’s Informatics magazine (January 2021), each QR code holds an AES-encrypted code. The LOTIS server decrypts it with a key regenerated for every draw. A copied or invented ticket carries no valid code.

What do you check on the paper ticket itself?

Check 4 printed details before you pay a seller.

  • Lottery name and draw code, such as Karunya KR-771.
  • Draw date, matching the lottery’s weekday.
  • Ticket number: 2 series letters and 6 digits.
  • Price, such as ₹50 on a weekly ticket.

A ticket for a weekday that has no draw of that lottery is not genuine. Karunya is drawn on Saturdays, for example. A Karunya ticket dated on a Tuesday fails this check.

Is a photo or screenshot of a ticket valid?

No. Only the original paper ticket is claimed. Rule 9 of the Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Rules 2005 requires the winner to surrender it. A photo is useful only as a personal copy.

What are the signs of a fake Kerala lottery result?

A fake result breaks a fact that the official system keeps fixed. The draw time, the draw code and the prize list follow set patterns. Any mismatch marks the result as unofficial.

  • Timing: a full winners list posted before the 3:00 PM draw has finished.
  • Date: a result for a day with no draw, such as 2 October 2026.
  • Code: a draw code out of sequence, such as a jump from KR-770 to KR-772.
  • Prizes: a first prize other than ₹1 crore on a weekly draw.
  • Numbers: “guessing”, “lucky” or advance numbers, which the Act’s ban on pre-announced numbers rules out.

Karunya draws show the prize check clearly. Its 2nd prize is ₹25 lakh and its 3rd prize ₹10 lakh in every Karunya sheet we hold. A Karunya result listing ₹30 lakh and ₹5 lakh is wrong.

What are the signs of a fake Kerala lottery win?

A fake win arrives as a message and asks for money or personal details. A real win starts with a paper ticket in your hand. A message alone never makes a ticket a winner.

  • Message: a win for a ticket you never bought, or “bought” online.
  • Fee: a demand for registration fees, processing charges, GST, tax clearance, stamp duty or a deposit.
  • Letter: a “registration letter” on a copied government letterhead.
  • Details: a request for bank account numbers, card numbers, OTPs, UPI PINs or Aadhaar numbers.

Kerala Police warned in August 2024 of fake ₹5 lakh wins followed by GST and stamp-duty demands. Their July 2026 warning repeated that every fee demand is a scam.

How is a genuine Kerala lottery prize paid?

A genuine prize is paid after the winner surrenders the original ticket and the office confirms it. Tax and the agent’s commission are deducted from the prize. Nothing is paid by the winner in advance.

  • Deadline: 90 days from the draw, printed on every sheet.
  • Deduction: 30% TDS on prizes above ₹10,000, plus 4% cess.
  • Guarantee: Rule 9 states the Government guarantees payment of every prize.
  • Payment: LOTIS handles e-payment of prize money to the winner’s bank account, according to NIC.

The claim office matches large prize tickets with their counterfoils, the stubs kept at the office. A forged ticket fails this check. Rule 9 starts criminal proceedings against anyone who presents one.

What do you do with a doubtful result, ticket or message?

Stop, check the official source, and report the fraud on 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in. Kerala Police name both channels in their warnings. The LOTIS FAQ asks the public to report online sale offers to the department.

  1. Pay nothing and share no bank, card or Aadhaar details.
  2. Check the number on the official sheet or the LOTIS result page.
  3. Scan the ticket with the official app.
  4. Call 1930, the national cyber fraud helpline, after any payment.
  5. File a complaint on cybercrime.gov.in with screenshots and payment details.

The Kerala lottery ticket checker matches any number against every recent draw. It reads only the official sheets.
