Kerala Lottery Ticket Explained, Part by Part

A Kerala lottery ticket shows the lottery, draw code, date, series letters, a 6-digit number, price and machine codes. The back holds the winner’s name and signature. Each part below is confirmed by an official document, with examples from our official-sheet data.

What is printed on a Kerala lottery ticket?

A Kerala lottery ticket carries 9 parts that identify the draw, the ticket and its owner. One side names the lottery, the draw and the number. The reverse takes the winner’s details.

Part Example What it tells you
Lottery name Karunya Which of the 7 weekly lotteries or 6 bumpers it is
Draw code KR-770 Lottery code and draw number
Draw date 3 October 2026 The only draw in which the ticket can win
First letter K The lottery that issued the ticket
Second letter F The series, one of 12 in a weekly draw
6-digit number 335755 The number matched against the result
Price ₹50 The face value; no sale above it is allowed
Barcode and QR code Machine codes Identification and authenticity checks
Back side Name, address, signature The person who claims the prize

The examples come from the KR-770 result sheet. The first prize of ₹1 crore went to KF 335755, sold in Cherthala. Form VII, the affidavit for winners from outside Kerala, asks for the same parts: lottery name, series and number.

How do you read a Kerala lottery ticket number?

A Kerala lottery ticket number reads as two letters followed by six digits, such as KF 335755. The first letter names the lottery. The second letter is the series, and the digits are the drawn number.

Each weekly draw prints the same six digits in 12 series. KR-770 used KA to KM, without KI. So KA 335755, KB 335755 and KM 335755 are different tickets of one draw.

  • Every Karunya ticket starts with the letter K. The second letter is the series.
  • KR-770 used 12 series: KA, KB, KC, KD, KE, KF, KG, KH, KJ, KK, KL, KM.
  • The series alternate each week: KR-769 used KN to KZ. So a ticket from one week cannot be confused with the next week’s.
  • After the two letters comes a 6-digit number: the KR-770 first-prize ticket was KF 335755. Lower prizes are won on the last 4 digits (5755).

The full logic of the letters, including bumper series, is on the series letters page linked below.

What do the draw code and draw date on a ticket mean?

The draw code names the lottery and the number of its draw. KR-770 is the 770th draw of the Karunya lottery. The draw date is the only date on which the ticket competes.

The official sheet prints the code as “KARUNYA LOTTERY NO.KR-770th DRAW”. The same sheet names the next Karunya draw: 10 October 2026, at Gorky Bhavan. Each weekly lottery has its own 2-letter code.

  • BT: Bhagyathara, drawn on Monday.
  • SS: Sthree Sakthi, drawn on Tuesday.
  • DL: Dhanalekshmi, drawn on Wednesday.
  • KN: Karunya Plus, drawn on Thursday.
  • SK: Suvarna Keralam, drawn on Friday.
  • KR: Karunya, drawn on Saturday.
  • SM: Samrudhi, drawn on Sunday.

Bumper tickets carry the code BR with their own number. The Onam Bumper of 26 September 2026 was BR-111. The Pooja Bumper of 28 November 2026 is BR-112.

What does the price on a Kerala lottery ticket include?

The printed price is the face value of the ticket. A weekly ticket costs ₹50. The Directorate’s FAQ forbids selling any ticket above its face value.

Gazette notifications show that a bumper price includes GST. The Monsoon Bumper BR-110 ticket of ₹250 is ₹178.57 plus 40% GST. The Pooja Bumper BR-112 ticket costs ₹300.

What are the barcode and the QR code on a Kerala lottery ticket for?

The barcode and the QR code identify the ticket by machine and confirm it is genuine. The Kerala Books and Publications Society prints both. KBPS has printed Kerala lottery tickets since 1984.

  • Barcode: computer-generated since 1 January 2008, with serial and cross numbering.
  • QR code: a label the public scans to check authenticity.
  • Counterfoil: a stub kept at the office and matched before prizes above ₹100 are paid.

The official Bhagya Keralam app scans the QR code and confirms genuineness and prizes. The full list of verified features is on the ticket security features page.

What goes on the back of a Kerala lottery ticket?

The back of the ticket takes the buyer’s name, as on the Aadhaar card, and signature. The Directorate’s prize claim page asks buyers to write both as soon as they buy. The 2005 text of Rule 9 adds the address.

Form V, the claim form for prizes above ₹10,000, includes a declaration that the reverse is filled in.

How is a bumper ticket different from a weekly ticket?

A bumper ticket differs in its price, its first letter and its number of series. Weekly draws print 12 series. Bumper draws print fewer: 10 for BR-111 and 5 for BR-110.

Feature Weekly ticket Bumper ticket
Draw code BT, SS, DL, KN, SK, KR or SM BR, such as BR-111
Price ₹50 ₹250 (BR-110), ₹300 (BR-112)
Series per draw 12 5 (BR-110), 10 (BR-111)
First letter Fixed per lottery, such as K for Karunya Set per bumper, such as T for BR-111
First prize ₹1 crore ₹30 crore (BR-111)

The BR-111 first prize of ₹30 crore went to TL 360615, sold in Kannur. BR-111 was drawn at 2 PM, and BR-112 is set for 2 PM.

Which part of the ticket decides each prize?

The full number with its series decides the top prizes. The last 4 digits decide the lower ones. The consolation prize uses the six digits without the series. This table uses the KR-770 sheet.

Prize Matched part KR-770 example
1st Series letters and 6 digits KF 335755
Consolation 6 digits in the other 11 series KA 335755 to KM 335755
2nd Series letters and 6 digits KH 874154
3rd Series letters and 6 digits KB 809651
4th to 9th Last 4 digits, any series 4th prize ending 0585

One ticket receives only its highest prize in a draw, under Rule 9. The Kerala lottery ticket checker tests a full number against every tier at once. It covers the last 90 days.
