How to Claim a Kerala Lottery Prize

A Kerala lottery prize is claimed by surrendering the original signed ticket within 90 days of the draw. The office that pays depends on the amount won. Small prizes are paid by any authorised agent; large prizes go to the Directorate of State Lotteries.

Where do you claim a Kerala lottery prize?

You claim a Kerala lottery prize at an agent or at 1 of 5 claim offices. The amount decides which. The Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Amendment Rules 2024 set these limits in Rule 9(3)(c). A bank can submit the ticket for you at any amount.

Prize Where to claim
Up to ₹10,000 Junior Superintendent at a lottery office
Above ₹10,000, up to ₹10,00,000 District Lottery Officer or Lottery Sub Officer
Above ₹10,00,000, up to ₹1,00,00,000 Deputy Director of State Lotteries
Above ₹1,00,00,000, up to ₹5,00,00,000 Joint Director of State Lotteries
Above ₹5,00,00,000 Director of State Lotteries, Thiruvananthapuram

Agents collect small prize tickets from winners and present them for payment. The 2005 rule text set their limit at ₹5,000. The 2024 amendment lets the Director fix it. The consolation prize and the 4th to 9th prizes of a weekly draw fall in this band. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes go to the offices above.

How do you claim a Kerala lottery prize, step by step?

To claim a Kerala lottery prize, verify the number, sign the ticket and surrender it with the documents. The whole claim uses the original paper ticket. A photo, photocopy or screenshot is not a ticket.

  1. Verify the number with the official result, the LOTIS result page or the Bhagya Keralam app.
  2. Write your name exactly as on your Aadhaar card on the back of the ticket, and sign it.
  3. Check that your Aadhaar and PAN are linked.
  4. Copy both sides of the ticket and keep the copy safe.
  5. Collect the documents for your prize amount, listed in the next section.
  6. Surrender the ticket within 90 days at the office for your amount, by post, or through a bank.
  7. Keep the receipt until the prize money reaches you.

The Kerala lottery ticket checker shows every prize a number won in the last 90 days. It prints the last claim date for each match.

Which documents does a Kerala lottery prize claim need?

A prize above ₹10,000 needs the signed ticket, Form V, a photo, and passbook, PAN and Aadhaar copies. That is the current list, according to the Directorate of State Lotteries’ prize claim page, updated 24 March 2026. The Directorate’s page is in Malayalam.

Documents for prizes above ₹10,000

  • Original winning ticket, with your name as on Aadhaar and your signature on the back.
  • Form V, the application for prize money above ₹10,000.

  • Self-attested copy of the bank passbook, showing name, address, account number, branch and IFSC.
  • Self-attested copy of the PAN card.
  • Self-attested copy of the Aadhaar card.

Your Aadhaar and PAN must be linked, according to the same page. The name and address in the passbook match your Aadhaar card. Form V asks for the bank account and IFSC where the prize money is deposited.

Documents for prizes below ₹10,000

A prize below ₹10,000 needs 4 items at a lottery office, according to the Directorate.

  • Application for prize payment.
  • Original winning ticket, with your name as on Aadhaar and your signature.
  • Self-attested copy of the Aadhaar card.
  • Self-attested copy of a single-account bank passbook, showing name, address, account number, branch and IFSC.

How do joint winners claim a prize?

Joint winners claim with a Form V from each winner and one notarised Form VI. Form VI is a joint-claim affidavit with the notary’s seal and registration number. It lists each winner’s Aadhaar, PAN, bank account and percentage share of the prize.

Where do you get Form V, Form VI and Form VII?

The forms are on the download forms page of statelottery.kerala.gov.in, the Directorate’s official site. Form V notes an electronic option through a specified portal. A paper Form V goes with the photo and the self-attested copies.

How does the 2005 Rule 9 text differ from current practice?

The 2005 text of Rule 9 sets a ₹5,000 document threshold. Rule 9 belongs to the Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Rules 2005. The Directorate’s current page and Form V use ₹10,000, the line set by the 2024 amendment of the rules. The 2005 text lists a Form VIII stamped receipt, an attested photo and one ID proof. Its ID choices include a ration card.

The current list replaces these with Form V and copies of PAN, Aadhaar and the passbook. Today’s Form VIII is an affidavit for torn tickets. Follow the Directorate’s current list when you claim.

How many days do you have to claim a Kerala lottery prize?

You have 90 days from the draw date to surrender a winning ticket. The Directorate’s prize claim page and every official result sheet state this limit. A ticket from a draw on 3 October 2026 is claimable until 1 January 2027.

The 2005 Rule 9 text gave 30 days, a figure still quoted on older sites. The Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Amendment Rules 2024 set 90 days. Prizes not claimed in time become the property of the Government, according to Rule 9.

Each draw page on this site shows its last claim date and the days left. A large prize passes a genuineness check and a counterfoil check before payment.

How do you claim a Kerala lottery prize through a bank?

You claim through a bank by handing the signed ticket, Form V and the documents to the bank. The bank presents them at the lottery office for you. Rule 9 names 4 kinds of bank: nationalised banks, scheduled banks, the State Co-operative Bank and district co-operative banks.

  • Fill the “If through bank” part of Form V with the bank’s name and branch, according to the Directorate.
  • Leave that part blank for a claim in person or by post.
  • Sign the Form V authorisation, which lets the Director of State Lotteries pay that branch on demand.

The Form V authorisation is irrevocable. The 2005 rule text lists bank certificates for this route. The Directorate’s current page names Form V only. The bank route works for every prize amount, from a 4th prize to a bumper first prize.

How do winners from outside Kerala claim a prize?

Winners from outside Kerala claim with the standard documents plus Form VII, an affidavit attested by a notary. This covers prizes above ₹10,000, according to the Directorate’s prize claim page of 24 March 2026. The notary adds a seal and registration number.

Form V treats a winner as outside Kerala by the Aadhaar address. Form VII states the ticket was bought from an agent or seller of Kerala lottery tickets. The notary verifies it with the winner’s Aadhaar. The 2005 rule text asked for notary attestation of every document instead. The claim goes by post, through a bank or in person.

Kerala lottery tickets are sold only inside Kerala. A visitor who bought a genuine ticket in Kerala claims it like a resident. Tickets offered online from another state are not genuine, as explained in can you buy Kerala lottery online.

How is the Kerala lottery prize money paid?

The prize money is paid into the winner’s bank account after the checks and deductions. Form V records the account number and IFSC for the deposit. The Government of Kerala guarantees payment of every prize, under Rule 9.

The Directorate deducts the agent commission and income tax due by law. One ticket gets only its single highest prize. The office checks each ticket against the result, and against its counterfoil for prizes above ₹5,000. Larger claims pass the District Lottery Office, the Deputy Director, the Joint Director or the Director, by amount.

At a District or Sub Lottery Office, the winner signs a stamped prize receipt with the Aadhaar number. The receipt you hold proves the claim while it is processed.

Which lottery tickets are rejected at the claim office?

Claim offices reject tampered, damaged and forged tickets, according to the Directorate. Rule 9 requires winners to surrender tickets in good condition. Criminal proceedings start against anyone who presents a forged ticket.

  • Torn tickets above ₹10,000: the winner files Form VIII, a sworn affidavit that the damage was accidental. The winner undertakes to repay the prize when the ticket proves fake.
  • Doubtful tickets: sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory, with the fee paid in advance by the winner.
  • Late tickets: refused after the 90-day limit printed on the result sheet.

Keep the ticket flat, dry and undamaged until you surrender it.

How much is deducted from a Kerala lottery prize?

Two deductions apply: the selling agent’s commission, and 30% TDS on prizes above ₹10,000. TDS falls under Section 393(3) of the Income-tax Act 2025 (formerly Section 194B). No TDS applies at or below ₹10,000.
