The official listing is Kerala Lottery Official on Google Play. Open it from this link, not from a search for “Kerala lottery app”.

What does the Kerala Lottery Official app do?

The app checks that a ticket is genuine, checks it for prizes, and tracks prize claims. Its listing adds live draw viewing. Lottery agents log in to manage their own work.

How do you scan a Kerala lottery ticket with the app?

Scan the ticket’s QR code from inside the official app, then read the details it returns. A phone camera app alone does not verify anything.

  1. Install Kerala Lottery Official from its Google Play listing.
  2. Open the app and start the ticket scan.
  3. Point the camera at the QR code printed on the ticket.
  4. Compare the lottery, draw code and number on screen with the printed ticket.
  5. Run the prize check after the draw to see whether the ticket won.

How does the QR code prove a ticket is genuine?

The QR code carries an AES-encrypted code that only the LOTIS server decrypts. NIC described the design in its Informatics magazine in January 2021. The decryption key is regenerated for every draw.

A forger copies the look of a ticket, but not a valid code for that draw. The app reads the code with the open-source ZXing scanner library, according to the same article. The server, not the phone, gives the answer.

Can you check a ticket without scanning it?

Yes. The prize check accepts a typed ticket number, according to NIC’s Informatics magazine (April 2025). The app uses captchas for security. The department said on Google Play in October 2025 that they stop automated bot requests.

What does the official app not do?

The app does not sell tickets, pay prizes or predict numbers. Tickets are sold only by authorised agents and sellers in Kerala. Prizes are claimed with the original paper ticket.

  • Sales: none. The department has no online sale and no tie-up with any app, the Lottery Director said in October 2025.
  • Claims: none. Rule 9 of the Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Rules 2005 requires the signed paper ticket.
  • Payments: none to the winner through the app. LOTIS handles e-payment of prize money to the winner’s bank account after a claim.
  • Predictions: none. The Lotteries (Regulation) Act 1998 forbids prizes on pre-announced numbers.

How do you tell the official app from look-alike apps?

Check the developer name, the package name and the Government badge on the listing. The official app shows The Department of State Lotteries, gov.kerala.lotis and the Government badge. An app that takes money for tickets is not official.

Look-alikes rank well in search. We checked the Indian results for “kerala lottery app” on 4 October 2026.

  • Position 2: a private results app on Google Play.
  • Position 4: a private results app on the Apple App Store.
  • Position 7: the official Kerala Lottery Official app.
  • Positions 6 and 10: APK download pages for an app called “Kerala Lottery Online”.

Kerala Police counted 60 fake apps using the lottery’s name in August 2024. Private results apps differ from fake sale apps. A results app shows numbers, while a fake sale app takes money. Neither carries the department’s verification.

Is an APK download of the app safe?

An APK from a third-party site is not the department’s listing. The department publishes the app on Google Play. Install it from that listing only.

What other official channels show Kerala lottery results?

3 official channels sit beside the app: the live stream, the result sheet and the LOTIS result page. All 3 come from the State Lotteries Department. The draw is at 3:00 PM at Gorky Bhavan, near Bakery Junction, Thiruvananthapuram.

The app checks one ticket at a time by scan. The Kerala lottery ticket checker on this site matches a typed number against recent official sheets.
