Editorial policy: how Kerala lottery results are verified

Kerala Lottery Today verifies results by reading each official result sheet, running completeness checks and publishing only what passes. Numbers from the live draw appear first and are matched to the sheet later. Every change after publication goes on a public log.

Where do Kerala Lottery Today results come from?

Kerala Lottery Today results come from the official result sheets of the Directorate of State Lotteries. The sheets are PDF files listed at result.keralalotteries.com. The live draw broadcast supplies the 1st to 3rd prizes before the sheet is out.

The Directorate of State Lotteries is the Kerala government department that runs the draws. Each sheet carries the draw code, the draw date, every prize amount and every winning number. The sheet ends with the claim period and the date of the next draw.

The site takes no result from another results website, app, Telegram channel or WhatsApp group. Those copies are often typed by hand. A typed copy carries typing errors into every site that copies it.

How does the site collect the sheets?

The site collects the sheets with an automatic reader that follows the rules of the official server. The reader checks the server’s robots.txt file before every request. It names itself in each request and waits 3 seconds between requests to the same server.

When does the site look for a new result sheet?

The site checks for a sheet every 3 minutes, from 20 minutes after the draw to 7:30 PM. From 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM it looks every minute. Outside draw windows it looks once an hour.

The weekly draw starts at 3:00 PM. The sheet lands later the same afternoon. Across the last 40 weekly draws, the official sheet was generated between 4:30 PM and 4:47 PM.

The 1-minute check puts the full list online within about a minute of the sheet. The site keeps a copy of the text of every sheet it reads. Each copy carries a SHA-256 fingerprint, a short code that changes when even 1 character of the sheet changes.

How is an official result sheet read?

An official result sheet is read by turning the PDF into text and finding each part. The reader finds the header, the draw date, the prize tiers and the footer. A sheet with a missing part is not published.

The reader stops on 6 kinds of problem. Each one means the sheet was not read in full.

  • Header missing: no lottery name and draw number, such as “KARUNYA PLUS LOTTERY NO.KN-643”.
  • Code unknown: a lottery code outside the 7 weekly codes, or a bumper name not recognised.
  • Date missing: no “held on” line with the draw date.
  • Tiers missing: no prize headings, such as “1st Prize Rs :10000000/-“.
  • Count mismatch: a tier lists more 6-digit tickets than the reader picked up.
  • Numbers left over: winning numbers found after the end of the last prize list.

What is the sheet’s own generation time?

The sheet’s generation time is the time printed in the sheet’s footer by the Directorate’s system. The site stores this time with the draw. Draw pages show it as “generated 4:35 PM”, for example.

This time belongs to the Directorate, not to this site. It shows when the official result existed, not when the site read it.

Which checks must a result pass before it is published?

A result must pass 9 checks on its code, date, prize tiers and numbers. A result that fails any of them is held back. A held result never appears on the site.

Check What it requires
Code and date A draw code and a draw date, with the date not in the future
First prize A first prize, and exactly 1 first prize in a weekly draw
All tiers The consolation prize and the 2nd to 9th prizes in a weekly draw
Ticket format 2 series letters and 6 digits, such as KR 770123
Ending format 4 digits for the prizes paid on the last 4 digits
No duplicates No number repeated inside 1 prize tier
Prize amounts An amount for every prize tier
Consolation prize The first-prize number in every other series, never in the winning series
Series letters One shared first letter across the top series of a weekly draw

Which findings publish with a warning?

Six findings publish with a warning on the internal log. They point to an unusual draw, not to a reading error.

  • Weekday: the draw falls on a different weekday than usual.
  • Draw number: the number does not follow the previous stored draw.
  • Amount order: a lower tier pays more than the tier above it.
  • Tier size: a tier holds a different count of numbers than the last draw.
  • Venue line: the sheet has no line naming the venue.
  • Next draw: the sheet has no line giving the next draw date.

A weekly draw moved to another weekday is a real example. The sheet is correct, and the warning records the change for review.

What happens to a result that fails a check?

A result that fails a check is held and sent to the site owner for review. The draw stays off the site while it is held. The owner compares it with the official PDF and approves it or fixes the source.

A later sheet that fails a check never replaces a good published result. The published version stays, and the failure goes to review. A draw still missing at 6 PM triggers an alert to the owner.

How are live draw results entered?

Live draw results are entered by hand from the official broadcast, for the top 3 prizes only. The draw is shown live on the department’s YouTube channel. The site owner types each winning ticket as it is announced.

The entry form applies 4 rules before anything goes live.

  1. Read every typed ticket back in large print before publishing.
  2. Accept only 2 letters and 6 digits per ticket, such as KF 335755.
  3. Accept 1 ticket per prize tier in a weekly draw.
  4. Refuse weekly tickets whose series letters do not share a first letter.

The owner fixes a typing slip in the live entry until the sheet arrives. These live edits are not logged, because the sheet check follows. The draw page shows a LIVE label. Under the first prize it reads “Announced at the live draw”, with the time of entry. The 4th to 9th prizes are not entered live.

How is a live entry matched to the official sheet?

A live entry is matched by comparing its tickets with the sheet’s tickets, tier by tier. The official sheet always wins. Any live ticket that differs is replaced and logged as a correction.

The comparison uses ticket numbers only. A place typed as “Cherthala” against “CHERTHALA” on the sheet is not a difference. A changed letter or digit is a difference.

A sheet that fails its checks does not replace the live entry. The live numbers stay, and the sheet goes to review. After a match, the label reads “Matched with the official result sheet”, with the sheet’s generation time.

What do the labels on a result mean?

The labels show where a result came from and when. Each draw page carries 1 label. The 4 labels are below.

Label Meaning
LIVE 1st to 3rd prizes from the live broadcast; the sheet is not in yet
From the official result sheet, generated (time) Every prize from the sheet, with the sheet’s own time
Matched with the official result sheet (time) A live entry completed and checked against the sheet
Verified with two official sources (time) The draw code and top 3 prizes found on a second official page

The fourth label needs a second official source to be switched on in the site’s settings. On 4 October 2026 it is switched off, so no draw carries that label.

When are published results re-checked?

Published results are re-checked at 11 PM on the day of the draw. The site fetches each of the day’s sheets again. It compares the new text with the stored fingerprint.

An unchanged fingerprint ends the check. A changed fingerprint starts a full new reading and the same checks. Any changed number replaces the old one and goes on the corrections log.

How are corrections recorded?

Corrections are recorded automatically, with no manual step and no option to skip them. Every change to a sheet-based prize list writes 1 row per changed tier. The row holds the time, the draw code, the tier, the old numbers and the new numbers.

Three events write a row. The Directorate changes a sheet. A live ticket differs from the sheet. A new reading of a sheet changes a stored list. All rows appear on the corrections log.

Where do the facts on the guide pages come from?

The facts come from 1 central list, where each fact carries its source and its check date. A change in the list updates every page that uses the fact. Prize limits, tax rates and claim days are 3 examples.

The claim period updates itself from each new sheet. Every sheet prints the claim period, 90 days today. Claim limits come from Rule 9 of the Kerala Paper Lotteries (Regulation) Rules 2005. The TDS rate of 30% comes from Section 393(3) of the Income-tax Act 2025 (formerly Section 194B).

Guide pages name their sources in a line at the end. A fact from one news outlet carries its name in the text, such as “according to Onmanorama”.

How can you check your own ticket?

You check your own ticket on the ticket checker, then on an official source. The checker searches every stored draw still inside the claim period. Official sources confirm the result before a claim.

  1. Enter the full ticket number, such as KR 770123, in the Kerala lottery ticket checker.
  2. Open the official sheet for the draw at result.keralalotteries.com.
  3. Scan the ticket’s QR code with the Bhagya Keralam app.
  4. Take the signed ticket to the claim office for your prize amount.

Does Kerala Lottery Today use other results websites?

No. Kerala Lottery Today uses only official sources. The result sheets, the live broadcast and government documents are the only inputs.

The official live draw is explained on the Kerala lottery live draw broadcast page.
