How much did the first Kerala lottery ticket cost?
The first Kerala lottery ticket cost ₹1. It went on sale on 1 November 1967. Its draw on 26 January 1968 offered a ₹50,000 first prize, according to the department’s profile.
The ₹1 ticket and the ₹50,000 prize set a ratio of 50,000 to 1. Today’s weekly ticket keeps a similar shape at a larger scale. A ₹50 ticket competes for ₹1 crore, a ratio of 2,00,000 to 1.
How much does a Kerala lottery ticket cost today?
A weekly Kerala lottery ticket costs ₹50 in 2026. The price is the same for all 7 weekly lotteries. The weekly notifications of 10 November 2025 fix it.
The November 2025 notifications split the ₹50 into two parts. The ticket price is ₹35.714. GST at 40% adds ₹14.286. Three notifications show this split: Bhagyathara, Karunya and Samrudhi.

How has the weekly Kerala lottery ticket price changed?
The weekly ticket price went from ₹1 in 1967 to ₹40 by 2021 and ₹50 in 2025. Official notifications confirm the ₹40 and ₹50 prices. The years between 1967 and 2021 appear in no official record we read.

The 2021 Akshaya notification is dated 2 February 2021. It fixes the ₹40 maximum retail price “from the AK 489th lottery onwards”. One book of tickets held 25 tickets.
Why did the weekly price rise to ₹50?
The rise came with a bigger first prize. Onmanorama reported the move from ₹40 to ₹50 on 30 April 2025. The same report said every weekly first prize became ₹1 crore. The official sheets from May 2025 show that ₹1 crore first prize.
How much do Kerala bumper tickets cost?
Kerala bumper tickets cost between ₹250 and ₹500, depending on the bumper. A bigger first prize carries a higher price. The Onam Bumper is the dearest at ₹500.

We left out the Summer 2026 price. Its notification on the official site did not open as a readable file. We found no Onam price before 2026 in an official notice or in two major outlets.
What does a ₹25 crore or ₹30 crore ticket cost?
The ₹30 crore Onam Bumper 2026 ticket cost ₹500, according to The Hindu and Onmanorama. The ₹20 crore Christmas-New Year ticket cost ₹400 in 2025-26. A ₹10 crore Monsoon ticket cost ₹250 in 2026.
How does GST shape the Kerala lottery ticket price?
GST takes a fixed share of every ticket, and the share grew in 2025. Lottery GST became a uniform 28% on 1 March 2020. It rose to 40% on 22 September 2025.
Kerala kept most ticket prices round after the GST rise. The ticket price inside them fell instead. Vishu shows it best:
- Vishu 2025: ₹300 = ₹234.375 + 28% GST.
- Vishu 2026: ₹300 = ₹214.287 + 40% GST.
The Government’s share of a ₹300 Vishu ticket fell by about ₹20 after the rise. GST took the difference. The GST on Kerala lottery tickets page explains the notifications.
Is the Kerala lottery ticket price the same everywhere?
Yes. Every agent and seller sells at the printed face value. The Kerala Paper Lotteries rules forbid sale above or below it. A seller asking ₹60 for a ₹50 weekly ticket breaks the rules.
The price is printed on each ticket next to the draw code and date. Tickets are sold only in Kerala, in person. No genuine ticket is sold online at any price.
