History of the Kerala Bumper Lotteries

Kerala has drawn 6 bumper lotteries a year, from BR-85 in May 2022 to BR-111 in September 2026, in the official sheets online. Their first prizes rose from ₹10–25 crore in 2022 to ₹10–30 crore in 2026. The draw day moved from Sunday to Wednesday to Saturday.

What is a Kerala bumper lottery, and how many are there?

A Kerala bumper lottery is a special draw with a crore-level first prize, held 6 times a year. Each bumper is tied to a season or festival. Every bumper draw carries a BR code, such as BR-111.

The 6 bumpers run in this order through the year:

  1. Christmas-New Year Bumper, in late January or early February.
  2. Summer Bumper, in late March or early April.
  3. Vishu Bumper, between 23 and 29 May since 2023.
  4. Monsoon Bumper, in July.
  5. Thiruvonam (Onam) Bumper, in September or October.
  6. Pooja Bumper, in November or December.

The Lotteries (Regulation) Act 1998 allows a state at most 6 bumper draws in a calendar year. Kerala uses all 6.

How has each Kerala bumper’s first prize changed since 2022?

Three bumpers raised their first prize between 2022 and 2026: Onam, Christmas-New Year and Pooja. Vishu rose too, from ₹10 crore to ₹12 crore. Summer and Monsoon stayed at ₹10 crore in every sheet.

Bumper 2022 2023 2024 2025 2026
Christmas-New Year – ₹16 crore (BR-89) ₹20 crore (BR-95) ₹20 crore (BR-101) ₹20 crore (BR-107)
Summer – ₹10 crore (BR-90) ₹10 crore (BR-96) ₹10 crore (BR-102) ₹10 crore (BR-108)
Vishu ₹10 crore (BR-85) ₹12 crore (BR-91) ₹12 crore (BR-97) ₹12 crore (BR-103) ₹12 crore (BR-109)
Monsoon ₹10 crore (BR-86) ₹10 crore (BR-92) ₹10 crore (BR-98) ₹10 crore (BR-104) ₹10 crore (BR-110)
Thiruvonam (Onam) ₹25 crore (BR-87) ₹25 crore (BR-93) ₹25 crore (BR-99) ₹25 crore (BR-105) ₹30 crore (BR-111)
Pooja ₹10 crore (BR-88) ₹12 crore (BR-94) ₹12 crore (BR-100) ₹12 crore (BR-106) ₹12 crore (BR-112)

Every figure comes from the official result sheet of that draw. The Christmas-New Year column is dated by the draw year, so BR-89 is the 2022-23 edition. BR-112 is set for 28 November 2026, and its ₹12 crore comes from its Gazette notification.

Which bumper changed its prizes most?

The Onam Bumper changed most. BR-87 in 2022 paid one ₹5 crore second prize and ten ₹1 crore third prizes. From BR-93 in 2023, the sheets show twenty ₹1 crore second prizes instead. BR-111 cut the third prize from ₹50 lakh to ₹25 lakh.

How do Kerala bumper draw codes run?

Bumper draw codes rise by one with every bumper, across all 6 kinds. BR-85 was the Vishu Bumper of 22 May 2022. BR-111 was the Onam Bumper of 26 September 2026.

Each kind of bumper therefore jumps by 6 a year. Three Pooja Bumpers show the pattern: BR-100 in 2024, BR-106 in 2025 and BR-112 in 2026. The Kerala bumper lottery winners page lists every code with its winning ticket.

On which day are Kerala bumpers drawn?

Kerala bumpers are drawn on Saturdays since October 2025. Earlier bumpers fell on Sundays in 2022 and on Wednesdays from May 2023. Every draw in the sheets started at 2 PM, except BR-105.

  • Sunday: BR-85 to BR-88 (2022) and BR-90 (March 2023).
  • Thursday: BR-89, the Christmas-New Year Bumper of 19 January 2023.
  • Wednesday: BR-91 (May 2023) to BR-104 (July 2025).

Which Kerala bumpers changed their series?

Three bumpers changed their series letters or count between 2022 and 2023: Vishu, Monsoon and Pooja. The series is the two-letter prefix on each ticket. The first letter marks the bumper.

  • Vishu: HB, IB, KB, SB, UB and VB in 2022; VA to VG (6 series) from 2023.
  • Monsoon: 6 series, MA to MG, in 2022; 5 series, MA to ME, from 2023.
  • Pooja: 6 series, JA to JG, in 2022; 5 series, JA to JE, from 2023.

Onam and Christmas-New Year kept 10 series in every edition. Onam uses TA to TL and Christmas uses XA to XL. Both skip the letters F and I.

What else changed in Kerala bumpers?

Two rule changes reached every bumper: a 90-day claim period and 40% GST. Sheets up to BR-101 in February 2025 printed “within 30 days”. From BR-102 in April 2025, the sheets print 90 days.

GST changed the ticket split. The Vishu 2025 notification priced the ticket at ₹300, with ₹234.375 plus 28% GST. The Vishu 2026 notification kept ₹300, with ₹214.287 plus 40% GST.
